I figured it was time to jump on the bandwagon and start a blog. It's not like I feel like I have some great wealth of information to share with the world, but there a couple of reasons for this blog:
- At work I often solve technical problems, and then a month later try to remember what the fix was. This will server as a journal of sorts for me so that I can go back and remember the solution
- I get asked a lot of the same questions over and over - maybe I can use this to answer some of those questions.
- A repository for some of my ideas, whether relating to my work life, personal life, church calling, etc.
- It seems like the thing to do do be a self-respecting technology enthusiast these days (lame reason)
- Who knows, maybe I'll develop a cult following, generate some revenue with AdSense, and get rich. Yeah right.
- Because I can
So who am I? Well, my full-time job is a web-developer/database administrator for Zions Securities Corporation. I also own Beyond Pictures, a side business of mine, specializing primarily in LDS wedding videos. I also perform a number of other duties under this business, such as other types of videography, slide and photo scanning, and web development. At the time of this blog my web site is painfully empty, hopefully I can find time to get more content on there some day. I guess it's kind of like the shoemaker's kids who never have a decent pair of shoes - I just never seem to get to it. I also am a violinst, love playing around with other instruments, and have a great interest in music. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and am currently the Ward Clerk in my ward. I served a mission in Ireland, and it's even St. Patty's day as I write this!
Feel free to post any comments to this blog - I've allowed anonymous posting (for now). You know, just in case by some odd miracle you actually stumble across this blog and actually read it (I can't imagine why!)
